To Be Political is to be Spiritual: Dr. Kathleen O'Malley

SUNDAY, APRIL 25th at 3:30 p.m.
DRAKE COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Kathleen O’Malley is a psychologist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has been to Iraq a number of times since the war began in 2003. She has gone with delegations of the Christian Peacemaker Teams, a non-profit organization based in Chicago committed to being a witness for peace in places around the world beset with violence.

Kathleen speaks about the connection between politics and spirituality. She has a broad understanding of what constitutes spirituality, including what it means to strive for wholeness in our lives. She has long connected the two in her own life, and speaks powerfully about the importance of each of us bringing those two aspects of life together.

Kathleen is a student of nonviolence in the tradition of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Gandhi. She has a Certificate of Theological Studies from Pacific School of Religion, in Berkeley, CA. Kathleen also has a long history of political activism, standing up for peace and justice wherever there is oppression and violence.

This event is free and open to the public.
